What is Continuing Legal Education (CLE) for attorneys?

  • CLE is a requirement for lawyers to stay current on legal practices, ethics, and developments. 
  • CLE is also known as mandatory continuing legal education (MCLE) or continuing professional development (CPD). 
  • CLE activities include CLE courses, webinars, workshops, and compliance training.

What is BARBRI's CLE accreditation?

BARBRI is accredited as a CLE sponsor in most states. We do not seek direct accreditation of live or recorded webinars for Fla., Maine, Mont., and Wash. We will help you self-apply to the Florida, Maine, Montana, and Washington Bar for continuing legal education course attendance credit. 

How do I get CLE credit for attending a live webinar?

Only registered and paid webinar attendees will receive continuing education credits. 

To obtain CLE credits, you must have a paid registration and participate in the live webinar. Watch for the attendance prompts that you will see while viewing the program. After the webinar is over, you must confirm your participation by completing and submitting an Attendance Affirmation/Evaluation. A link to this will be displayed on the screen immediately following the program. 

Provided that you have satisfied all the conditions and your state has approved the course, a Certificate of Attendance will be emailed immediately. 

How do I obtain a Certificate of Attendance for CLE credit?

To obtain CLE credit, you must participate in the live event and confirm your participation by completing and submitting an Attendance Affirmation/Evaluation after the webinar. Provided that you have satisfied all the conditions and your state has approved the course, a Certificate of Attendance will be emailed immediately. 

How do I get a copy of my CLE certificate?

If a learner has satisified the conditions for the CLE certificate, they will receive an email from barbricertificates@beaconlive.com. Attached to the email will be the certificate of attendance. If you require assistance with the actual certificate, please contact Beacon's support line at 1-877-297-2901 or email helpdesk@beaconlive.com.

Learners may also access their certificates from the BARBRI LMS (learn.barbri.com). Once logged in look for the "Achievements" link in the top navigation. The resulting page will display any earned certificates with a "Download" link appearing next to the certificate. Select "Download" to open the certificate PDF in a new browser tab.

How many credits are available for BARBRI's CLE webinars?

BARBRI legal webinars are usually eligible for 1.5 general continuing legal education credits, depending on program length and state rules. Programs with “ethics” in the title of the event generally earn between 0.5 and 1.5 ethics credits. In addition, many states will grant self-study CLE credits for listening to recorded events. 

Are BARBRI's on-demand webinars approved for CLE credit?

BARBRI’s CLE On-Demand programs are pre-approved in the following states: Ark., Ariz., Calif., Hawaii, Mont., N.M., Nev., N.Y., Wis., W.Va., and Vt. 

We do not seek direct accreditation of live or recorded webinars for Fla., Maine, Mont., and Wash. We will help you self-apply to the Florida, Maine, Montana, and Washington Bar for CLE course attendance credit. For more information, contact us online

Do you support self-study CLE credits?

Many states grant self-study continuing legal education credits for recorded events. We will provide a CLE Certificate of Attendance to the person listed as the attendee on the order receipt. 

BARBRI will help you process participatory, self-study, or non-traditional/alternate format credit upon request.  

What available recorded CLE webinar formats do you have?

Our webinars are available as a online accessible CLE on-demand videos. All program formats include access to speaker handouts.  BARBRI will provide one certificate of attendance per recording provided that you have satisfied all the conditions and your state has approved the course. We do not currently make on-demand recordings available for download.

How do I access on-demand CLE webinars?

On-Demand webinars are available with 24-48 hours following the live program or upon receipt of payment and can be accessed from your account for up to a year.

To access, follow these simple steps:

1. Visit learn.barbri.com

2. Enter the account holder's email address and password (you will have the opportunity to set or reset your password if needed)

3. Your On-Demand programs will be listed in your Learner Dashboard (Learner Home page) under the heading "In Progress" or "Not Started" headings (depending on whether or not the course has been watched).

4. Select the course card and hit "Continue" to go to the course modules page.

5. When you are ready to listen or watch, click the "Launch" button to open the webinar window.

What are the System Requirements for CLE webinars?

Recommended system requirements:

  • High-speed internet connection
  • Up-to-date web browser with Javascript enables [most current Safari, Edge, and Chrome browsers are all compatible]

How do I access the CLE handout materials?

Course materials are available on the course web page approximately 24 hours prior to the event. Simply go to the BARBRI professional development LMS (Learning Management System), log in, and find the title of your course on your Learner Dashboard located within the “Not Started” section. On the resulting page, scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window to find your presentation. Click on the presentation link to open the course material in your browser window. You can also find a link to the course materials on the program window.
